Gingerbread Houses

When I got back from Utah the schedule was pretty much non-stop till after Christmas.  One of my all-nighters included painting the new toe-kick trim that was put on our baseboards after our floors were refinished.  Well, I primed the toe-kicks, and have yet to paint them.  The goal is to get them painted this week (tomorrow actually).  The full week before Christmas included helping out at the school (making copies and helping with gingerbread houses), making gingerbread, finishing up the dining room chairs, shopping trips for curtains, making pj pants, Lee's work party, getting ready for family to come into town and attending the Nutcracker.  It was a busy one!

This year for Lee's work party we went out to eat at Ciros again.  Our group isn't very big and it was a fun night visiting and eating.  Ciro sells this delicious chocolate cake.  I got a piece for myself with the suggestion that Lee could eat some of it.  Once I got the cake, Lee liked it so much that I told him to get one for himself.  And he did, ha ha.  It was so good!   We'll have to go back just to get the chocolate cake!

Now on to all the gingerbread houses!  I went to the school two separate times to help out with gingerbread houses.  First off was Clark's turn.  The 5th graders made a different type of house.

A few days later I went back in to help the other kids-the last day of the school before Christmas break.  I really lucked out on this activity as it was one activity that included three of my kids!  Shanna and Haley are in the same reading group, and Cal's class has reading buddies with people in Shanna and Haley's group.

Funny enough, that night we also decorated gingerbread houses with some of our friends at our house.  It's a great holiday tradition--one that I grew up with. We had dinner first, then started on the houses.

My friend Brittany and her family left early, so we didn't catch any pictures of them--thanks for coming Brittany and Michael!  I did a get a picture at the end with my friends Sunny and Vivian. We had a fun time with our friends.
