An interesting article....
Oct 2011 Elkton Vandals(1)
Especially since our van was one of them.  Funny enough, we didn't even know that they had thrown eggs on it till a police man was at our house one night explaining it to us (that gave me a sinking feeling fast!).

Cub Scouts and more...

We have delved into cub scouting with Clark.  So far he loves it and received his Bobcat last week.  We have eased in to extra activities very slowly at our house.  The ONLY thing extra that the boys have EVER done was swimming lessons early this year.  That is it.  I am not into sports, so if our boys start doing little league or something, Lee will have to take over that one.  And if I combine what feels like a busy enough life for our family and a self-imposed lack of funds for sports or other activities...well boys and girls, maybe you can sign up for something next year! (Well, okay.  Probably just the two older boys...)

We attended our ward Halloween dinner and church-or-treat.  It was kind of cold and snowing--yes snowing--outside during the party, so trick-or-treating was held in the building.  It was so nice to sit in the foyer and not be cold while handing out candy!  The Young Men and Young Women's organizations were in charge of the party and did a great job.  We had a fun time.  And let me tell you, getting ready for the party was so fun.  The kids were so excited to dress up and go to the party...I loved it!

Funny enough, a few people asked me: What are you?  My answer: I don't know.  Lee bought this dress for me while he was in Nicaragua (or whoever his future wife was going to be, ha ha).  I have worn it maybe once before.  While we don't mind dressing up for Halloween, Lee and I don't want to try and think of WHAT to dress up as.  So it was an easy solution!

Oct 28 2011 Cal (4) time to brag...or look like a fool. So when I heard that there was going to be an adult pie eating contest, I had to enter.  It's a family tradition to have pie eating contests at family reunions.  Our family goes at it.  No nibble here, dab the napkin there, type of deal.  No no.  You smash your face into the pie and scarf as FAST as you can.  Chewing is a bother, swallowing is preferable. I've had cousins inhale a pie--a mini one--in one bite...or so it seemed.

I was not prepared for a WHOLE pie eating contest though....Another lady and I competed against 4 guys.  Guess who got 1st and 2nd?

This was about a minute into the competition.  Look at the guys' pies.  Then look at the ladies'.

Yep!  I won!  Last time I did a pie eating contest I really thought I was going to win, but I didn't.  My friend Kristi beat me.  This time around, although I wanted to win, I went in as a more humble contestant. Though my gag reflex never triggered, it sure got pretty close. I was even full from dinner.  I'll have to plan that out better next time.  But I did not get sick.  Here is my pie when the contest ending at 1 minute 15 seconds.

AND the snow kept coming.  I always love the first snow of the season and I am glad that it is all melted.  There is plenty of time for snow in Dec, Jan and Feb.

Happy Halloween!

Merry Land

The weekend after Lee's parents left we headed up to Maryland for our monthly temple trip and visit with the Heits.  The night started off right with a Pizza Heit Party Night and while the kids had a ball playing the Wii Jeff and Lois went on a date.

The next morning Lee and I went on our date: temple, IKEA, commissary.  That afternoon we went to a park nearby.  While the husbands watched the kids, Lois and I did an Aldi run.  (I can't wait till Black Friday Lois!)

Yeah, sorry about the fuzzy pictures.  Of course I didn't know the lens was dirty till the next day after we were home! Oh well.... But Lee does always have a special glow about him!

Sweet Blake!  Boy does he cruise around!  He is a pro-crawler and loves walking along the couch and chairs.  He is also quite the taste-tester (like any 10ish month-old). Leave it on the ground and he'll try it out for you!

Lois treated us to some yummy meals and before we headed home, some pumpkin muffins.  Shanna and Haley of course were drawn to the kitchen!
Oct 22 2011Shanna and muffins cute!  You'd never know they were twins!  I have been (mostly) letting Shanna dress herself lately. Definitely surprises people when I tell them they are twins! What is funny is when I ask Shanna or Haley who was in my belly with them at the same time.  It's so funny when they say Cal or Elden.

On our way home I saw this sign. It is Shakespeare BLVD.  Of course it reminded me of our good friends the Shakespear's (do I put an apostrophe and then an "s" here??). Too bad there is an "e" on the sign AND that you can't even hardly read it in the photo! Trust me though.

I took the same photo and started messing with the colors/shades.  I thought this would be a fun photo to enlarge and stick on a wall...maybe....someday....if I wanted a city nightscape or something...

It's been a fun couple of weeks. I always enjoy a switch-up from regular day life; though regular life is always good as well. Sunday Lee and I spoke in church on "Be ye not weary in well-doing."

I am still enjoying volunteering at the school.  And BIG news!  Nope, not expecting, ha ha, but I am now a Primary Teacher.  It's official.  I have NEVER had a calling in the Primary. I've always been in the Relief Society and have had lot of different callings there.  Besides, I LOVE Relief Society!  And funny enough, I have two callings now.  I don't know if I've ever had two callings.  My first calling here (and still is) the Relief Society Meeting Coordinator.  The counselor in RS is great and it should good calling.  And for Primary, I will be team teaching with a friend.  She is a nurse and can't be there every Sunday.  So we will swap teaching on Sundays.

The patient numbers are still down at Lee's work but there is a "steady" flow I guess you could say. Plus he is working on some exciting things with the business....stay tuned! The kids are all well...except for a mysterious rash on Elden's leg...and are excited about Halloween!  I am excited about all the candy I am going to save and set away for Christmas. And that reminds me, here in town the downtown businesses host trick-or-treating.  Lee is going to participate and bought a bunch of "eye" candy. Pictures to come!

Mini Reunion

We had a great time while Lee's parents were here.  It was fun to have them see Lee's "new" practice and our "new" little town.  As some of you know, we have been doing without a microwave since the very end of July.  I was surprised that we were able to do without one so well.  (Thanks Sonia for the microwave offer by the way.)  Lee's parents bought us a microwave, thank you!  It was weird at first and I had to remember that we actually had one.  I know Lee was especially glad because he likes to heat up his milk that he eats with his cold cereal.  It's been nice having a microwave again!

Also during their visit, we had a mini family reunion with two of Lee's cousins and his Dad's sister.  I had met Aunt Marilyn before and I had met Edna (though I can't remember), but it was great getting together with them again.  Edna and Julie both live within two to three hours of us!   And funny enough Edna has twins Elden's age and Julie's sister has twins!  Lots of twins in the Robertson family!

Yay for family and having some within a few hours!  I do wish we all lived closer together.  Thanks for coming Mom & Dad!  We are excited to see you next year!
