Nicaragua Part 5

Wow, our last two days in Nicaragua!  Day seven, Friday, we packed up and left the ranch, heading into Managua.

Some of the kids went on a short horse ride.

Last meal at the ranch!

The kids loved having yogurt drinks every morning.

We stopped in Leon to drop off Orlando.  We were sad to see him go!  We got to see his grandmother one more time. We met her the other night when we had spent the day in Leon.

Can you see the dent in Lee's upper forehead?

We ate at a pizza place in Managua.  I didn't like it.  I'll stick with Little Caesars, haha.

We then went to Huembes Market to go do some fun shopping.  Wish I could have brought home some pinatas!

Shanna didn't eat any lunch and was grumpy.

The only time we had to pay for people to go to the bathroom.

We saw some Elders and chatted a little bit.  Lee asked them about missionaries being removed last year.  He kept asking more questions because I wanted him to and they said they weren't supposed to talk about it.  The missionaries were pulled out for a time because of political stuff.  I think right now only missionaries from Central America serve there.  I can't remember what all they said.

Lee bought some sugar cane for the kids to try out.

We stayed at the Best Western that night, directly across from the airport.  It was interesting how the rooms were situated.  There were two rooms per each little house.  Then they had covered walkways in between all the hotel rooms.

A little playground at the hotel.

Dinner at the hotel.

The kids went swimming a little bit that night.

Day 8!  Saturday was the day of our departure.  We had breakfast at the hotel.  Pretty fancy!

We then saw some sites around Managua. In front of the bus with Carlos!

A parade slowed us down at one intersection.

Poor Haley was sick that morning and didn't feel well.  We went to a museum for her to use the bathroom.  Apparently we were supposed to pay to get in but they let us anyway.  I was the tourist that didn't know Spanish so they just let us go I think.  Lee took Haley again but they didn't want to let them in.  But he remembered the sign for diarrhea that is common there.  Once he did that the security guard let them go in, no questions. You make a fist with your hand, and then bring it towards your belly button like you are going to punch yourself.

A guy outside the museum made little creatures out of palm leaves.

He made one and wanted Lee to give it to me, haha.  I said Lee is finally proposing to me.

One last stop!  We hit up a Pali--like an Aldi.  Walmart owns Pali and La Union in Nicaragua.

We made it to the airport with plenty of time.

One last stop for lunch at a place right by our gate, then our flight home.

The kids LOVED watching stuff on the plane.  Clark brought a cell phone to use, but none of them brought any electronics and they were just fine. I watched this little clip.  Not too bad!

I liked this room on a beach house search on HGTV.  We started fasting on the plane which worked because we didn't have to worry about dinner.

If anyone is interested in prices at Surfing Turtle Lodge!

We made it home about 2am or so and headed to church a few hours later.  Things went fine at the airport which was great! What a wonderful trip.  We can't wait to go back!
