Halloween Overload

We celebrated Halloween quite a few times this year, which was very fun.  First party: the ward's Fall Festival with a trunk-or-treat.

This guy provided the music for the cake walk.  He doesn't know how to play but kept providing the music-it was awesome.

Cal was a ninja this night, I think.  He put some lipstick on his upper cheek to resemble an injury.

Lee was kind enough to oblige me in a donut-on-a-string-eating-race.

Clark wanted to join in too.

I won.  Though at the very end a piece of mine fell...I'll still count it.

Along with the games there were "tractor" rides too.  There was a trailer hooked up to the four wheeler, but a wheel fell off.  Clark was a hobo for Halloween. He saw Cal and Lee getting on the trailer to take a ride and he was running towards them saying something like, "Wait for me!  I want a ride!"  I heard it was kind of funny with him being in costume and all.

Elden with his favorite Riley, AKA Iron Man.  Riley made his costume using lots and lots of duct tape.

The week of Halloween, on a Monday, we headed up to our friend's house for dinner and pumpkin & cookie decorating.  It was a fun FHE night with Sunny and her family. Thanks Sunny! I brought the cookies and decor.  We don't make sugar cookies very often and it has become tradition to make them every Halloween and decorate them.

Just to throw in, I made these shirts for the kids.  I did freezer paper shirts (thanks Melissa for the idea!) and they read ERHS-the acronym for the high school our kids will go to.  I got my instructions from here.

Wednesday night I headed for young womens and trick-or-treating was at the mall that same day.  We went in early to participate.  It was fun, but I don't think we'll go again.

Another random picture, at the beginning of the month I send my mom and dad a little package.  It was fun putting it together.  I went to Lee's office to get a box...he had plenty, ha ha.

Now we come to the actual day of Halloween!!! A lot of businesses around town hand out candy and it's a pretty popular event.  We of course went out and our friend, dressed as an angel came with us.

See Elden's bag?  Several years ago probably the Thanksgiving of 2009? I bought some fun trick-or-treat bags at the Childrens Place during a black Friday sale.  There were only 4.  Seems like I tried to get another one, but they were either too much or I didn't find another one.  I pulled out the trick-or-treat bags again this year, wishing Elden had one.  In years past he just used whatever for trick-or-treating.  One night I thought how I could make one look similar like the other kids' bags and then I thought that I should look on eBay.  Well....I did and there it was!!!  Someone was selling them on eBay!!!  It was awesome.  I immediately bought one.  I was so glad to have found one. In years past I know at least once I've looked for these bags, but couldn't find one.  It was a little blessing for me.

The local garden shop in town had two fire pits going and were handing out giant marshmallows to roast. So fun.

Lee handed out candy in front of his office.  He started about 5:30 handing out candy and was done by 6:30.  The appx. 550 pieces of candy were all gone!

We also did a little trick-or-treating around town.  When we got home of course people looked through their bags.  Elden was sitting by his pile for quite awhile.

Lee let the kids have their pumpkins in their room all lit up.  And yes, their dresser looks like that about 95% of the time.  Later that night we watched the Ghost & Mr. Chicken and I sorted their candy.  I immediately throwaway the gum and jawbreakers.  I took almost all of their chocolate and saved it for Christmas stockings.  I also kept out mints and smarties for gingerbread houses.  I then took out some red wrapped candy for Valentines Day.  And then a couple days later I had the kids fork over more candy (and I got some out of their bags) to save to put with their Valentines they hand out at school.  (I took some too, he he.)  Good thing I put the chocolate away.  I have eaten fewer pieces of candy this Halloween than last year.

Well, there you go!  All of our Halloween happenings!  Lee and I have already watched a couple of Christmas movies and I am so excited for Thanksgiving and the upcoming Holidays!  I bought something online a few days ago-a present for one of my kids-and the same night I bought some more stuff online.  The Christmas shopping bug has bit me.  I even have Christmas cards in motion now!  I can't wait!

You had quite the Halloween celebration. I love Lee's giant glasses---very appropriate. Did he wear them while handing out candy to the kids downtown? Elder's expressions are choice. Can't wait to see everyone.

The Hobo costume is AWESOME!!!!!! And where is YOUR's?!?! ;) Of COURSE Lee has to wear glasses for his. So fun
I can't believe you didn't post a after picture of the shirts! I bet the kids looked cute in them!
How in the WORLD do you have energy to carve pumpkins AFTER going trick or treating?!?!?
We ARE alike. I had our Christmas cards ordered the first part of October and already have the shopping done. I was worried how I would feel health-wise so in September I wrote my list and went crazy. ;)

Looks like an awesome time! Reed just got mostly chocolate (and tons of M&M's), so it's a good thing I didn't take any of his - he wouldn't have had any candy left, lol! We did have them choose some for their gingerbread houses though and we set it aside.

The picture of the dresser totally cracks me up! I didn't even notice (of course since it is like that a lot) and now I'm laughing b/c if you had been there you would have totally arranged the clothes and fixed the drawers before I took the picture b/c you think of things like that. Sorry I didn't. It was pretty funny though.
