Shenandoah

Saturday was a really warm day--in the 60s!  We were going to go ice skating but by the time we got to the rink it was closed because it was too slushy.  We drove around the resort (Massanutten) a little bit and the kids played at a park there.  The rest of the day we just did a few things and enjoyed being at home.  Around 5:00 we headed up to the Shenandoah National Park.  We hadn't been there in so long--we need to go up there more often!  It was cooler up in the park and muddy too.  We all had a great time.  I brought up our dinner---bean dip, and later we had s'mores with cookie bars and marshmallows.

I love s'mores with chocolate chip cookies.  This time after I made the batter I just spread it out in a pan and cut them up into squares after the batter was done baking.  So yummy with a toasted marshmallow in the middle. Or two.

I am looking forward to warmer weather and more trips up to Shenandoah National Park!  On Sunday when we watched Music and the Spoken Word they sang Shenandoah.  I love that song...and we are blessed to live in this beautiful place!

The chocolate chip cookie bars with marshmallows look delicious. That is a great way to do s'mores! I want to go with you to Shenandoah sometime! Too bad you weren't able to go ice skating.
