A Different Fall

It's crazy how General Conference comes up so fast!  This conference I headed down to Karl's baptism. I got there Friday night. I watched the first two sessions of conference, went to Karl's baptism then headed out right away so I could spend Sunday conference with Lee and Elden. So fun to see Deb, Lena and families and Mike's parents and Jeanne, Mike's sister.

On my drive. Carnival passing by!

I am so glad I'm not driving an electric car!!!

A creation...not sure why there is a picture haha. Maybe I found it and asked the kids what to do with it?

Beautiful fall night.

Lee and Elden have been helping out our friends. They had to replace a pipe and Lee and Elden helped wiht the digging and filling.

Siding is going up on our house!

And we have stairs and doors!

I put together fall packages for the kids. I sent some to Haley and Shanna's roommates too for Halloween.

Haha, this was funny!

It's taking me awhile to get used to just one kid at home. Slowly easing in to it. Elden and I did a lot of raking at the office with the leaves!

Elden's triple decker...nice!!!

Some renters stayed that were celebrating their 50th anniversary!  I wanted to do something a little special. They went hiking in Shenandoah.

Lee, Elden and I are planning a backpacking trip. We did a little trial hike with backpacks on and had some lunch. When we arrived a dad was there with his little girls. So cute he took them on a hike!

Elden and Lee went to a driving range, I think in Bridgewater.

The siding is almost done!

Haha the skeleton is getting ready for Halloween!

President Oaks was officialy sustained as the new prophet!  It was neat seeing the broadcast live. I'm going to miss President Nelson. President Oaks will be a wonderful prophet. So thankful we have a prophet to guide us to Christ in these turbulent times.

Insulation in and drywall soon going up!  They put in insulation in the garage, but the wrong kind. Since there is a minisplit going in they needed R-15 insulation--better rated, then the R-19. (I think those are the numbers.) With the extra insulation were were able to have them put it upstairs in the bedroom inside walls, which normally wouldn't be insulated. Nice!

Clark and Chloe's wedding annoucements arrived for me to address!!! I guess Chloe's family could have done this, but I have all the addresses and I don't mind doing this and working with Clark to get his friend invites out as well.

Fall is slowly coming. It seemed more like leaves would just die and fall off without a lot of color first.

The front porch is being worked out a bit!

We'll get to paint soon!  As soon as they are done with drywall, we can paint the ceiling and get the garage door installed.

We had a fun Sunday afternoon with the Bartholomews.

I brought some sugar cookies to decorate for an early Halloween.

Darrell found out about an app that will creat a song based on the lyrics you want it to use. It was pretty hilarious. Espeically since there was one about Cosmo too.

Quite the jeep!

Fall is showing more color!

The weekend came for our overnight backpacking trip!  Super long story...but about a mile before we dropped off the Suburban, I started going around a corner too fast, the Suburban went out of control and I ran off the road. It seemed like the brakes weren't working well either. We definitely made some mistakes that morning by deciding to just leave the Suburban off the side of the road--no one else was involved, and by not talking to the state police. We figured we didn't have to since I called the car insurance and they were coming to have someone tow the Suburban. We did talk to some EMTs that were turning around in the parking lot we were at. Lee told them it was our Suburban off the side of the road and that we were all fine. They mistakenly wrote down that Lee was the driver. But he wasn't even in the Suburban. I ended up parallel to the road which was really weird, and it was still dark out...just after 6:30am. I was about 10-15 feet off the road just in some trees and bushes. Lee tried to back the Suburban out but we heard a hissing sound and thought he popped a tire. But he hadn't. It was all covered in vines too. The front passenger window and back passenger windows were broken. Lee looked for some extra water we had in there, but it must have flown out the window, maybe breaking them because we couldn't find the water and the window was broken.

Anyway, silly us....we went on the hike. We hiked to Tinker Cliffs then to the Pig Farm to drop off our stuff. We hung out there and had lunch and I talked to the insurance company again, a tow company and a car wrecker place. I found out that the State Police called someone local to have the Suburban towed. And when I was talking to a towing guy who was headed to get the vehicle (me not knowing yet it had already been picked up), he said that if it was on the side of a county road I had to call and report this to the state police. I called and told them I was in an accident and then the dispatcher said that there was already a report filed. She didn't ask anything else and I didn't know what to say so I hung up.

We then hiked about another mile to McAfee Knob. We had the place to ourselves for about a half hour.

Tinker Cliffs.

At the Pig Farm. We hiked in all our food, water and tents, etc.

McAfee Knob!

We brought these ready made meals and also our own food. We have little stoves too now! Very fun!

These fire starters I made work great!

Tinker cliffs.

Thankfully we brought hot hands to have in our sleeping bags. We were pretty cold that night!  It wasn't horrible, but it was uncomfortable. We had breakfast, packed up and left. Beautiful morning!

I called the wrecker place and he agreed to meet us on Saturday so we could get our stuff out of our vehicle. By that point my car insurance said that it would most likely be totalled so get all of our stuff out of it. I think once we got there the guy called the State police, becuase just a few minutes later the police was there.

The trooper asked us why we hadn't called the police and we were thinking more on why we didn't call right away. I completely forgot that I had called them the day of the accident. We said we'd never been in an accident like this and since no other cars were involved and the vehicle was off the side of the road, that we could just have it towed away. Lesson...call the police!

Then Trooper Price started saying stuff about Lee driving. We told him I was driving, not Lee. He said the EMT wrote down that Lee was driving and Lee said he had gotten in the accident. But like I mentioned above, Lee did not say that. The EMT wrote down an assumption. The trooper had us write down a statement, each of us. Then he left and came back and gave Lee a warrant for arrest, a misdemeanor, for not contacting the police within 24 hours (which we did) and wreckless driving. Maybe something else? Lots of stress!!!! AHHH!!!

Our friend Bryleigh is headed to Chile on her mission! We went to the sacrament meeting where she spoke and then went to her setting apart. In Sacrament we sang I Will Walk with Jesus and Lee and I were crying. It felt very healing and comforting to be in sacrament meeting!

Our friends the Lorimers invited us over to decorate sugar cookies and have dinner. It was so crazy....that night our friend Monica and our friend Ashley each told us about there car incident stories that happened that weekend too. We didn't say anything about us.

Drywall on the old window areas!

This landing wasn't originally going to be boxed in, but an inspector came and said it needed to be enclosed. Not sure why. Something with needing an egress...which totally does NOT make sense.

Fall Festival!  We joined with the other ward. I really liked working with the activity lady, Barb. Working the ward council wasn't so great, haha. If we join with them in an activity, one of us needs to be in charge and the other just show up. I do not want to collaborate.

Lee and I went Tuesday night and set everything up.

I always love the costumes!

It was raining outside so the trick-or-treating was inside.

Stuff renters left haha.

I think the siding is all done!!!!

YES!!!  Garage door going in!

It was really sad not having our Suburban for the town trick-or-treating. Fun to use the golf cart though. I know it's just a vehicle, but I'm mourning the loss...and we didn't get to 400,000 miles. Just 384,000 haha. We handed out about 1000 bags of popcorn!

This Flinstone Family is so cute!

So many people were out, it was awesome!

It's been a good fall...stressful with the Suburban and the police stuff. I had a state trooper come and I added more on to my report.
