Thanksgiving 2014 and more

The big turkey day arrived!  Lee and I got up early to get the second turkey in the oven.  Since people were still slumbering I went running that morning, which was really nice.  See Lois' cranberry pie in the background?  No more cherry pies for me....I'm all about the cranberry.  Oh so good!  It's a Christmas staple here now!  Thanks Lois for the recipe!

Ahh...a house full of people!  I love it when we get together!!!

Thankfully Deb and Matt took a bunch of stuff to the church for us as Lee and I arrived later than I hoped. They got a bunch of things set up and Deb did an AMAZING job at decorating.  We ate at the church since there would be 41 of us.  We definitely could have eaten at my house, but the church gym turned out to be perfect.  Oh  yeah, there's more room there too!

Yes, I realize we could have ironed the tablecloths Deb brought, but that's okay.  She did a great job!  And I love the "bronze" disposable plates that I bought (via Lena) from Hobby Lobby.  And the "fake" stainless steel flatware.

We always have three corn kernels on our plates and go around saying three things for which we are thankful. I took pictures of my kids while they were saying their blessings.

Sadly there was some confusion for Cal and Shanna about the route.  From what I gather Cal would have won, but didn't know which way to go.  Oh well.  Next year, right?  He did cheer up later.....

The older kids raced too.  No adult race this year.  We'll have to do one next year!

Some people started playing "knockout" or "lightening" and then more and more of us joined in.  We played for over an hour.  It was SOOO fun!

Nov 27 2014

After cleaning up some of us went to a couple stores (yes, we are some of "those" people, but not all of my siblings went) and then congregated at my house for bean dip and movies.  The adults watched "What's up Doc" and Clark has just bought "How to Train Your Dragon 2" for $8 at Walmart--the kids watched that.

Friday morning, Deb, Lois, my mom and I along with Clark and nieces Makenzie and Rebecca, went shopping.  We left about 6am.  Shopping was so fun.  I never realized what awesome deals the mall had going on during Black Friday!  It's a confusing, long story, but in the end I was able to buy 6 pair of shoes for about $85 at one store.  I thought that was pretty great! We went to several stores, of course.  My dad brought Clark and the nieces home and we ladies kept shopping.  I treated everyone to Mr. J's bagels, and that was so fun.  I could have kept shopping!  But we had an appointment to go ice skating.

Most of us went skating and because of our large group we got the group rate.  It was very fun ice skating. My kids had never been before.  In Wisconsin as long as you owned skates you could go for free at the middle school.  They had a hockey rink there that I would skate on when I was younger.  So fun.

That night Lee and I treated everyone to a yummy dinner at local Italian restaurant--Ciro's.  We had a great date night with all the adults and the food was really yummy!  All the kids hung out at home, watching a movie.

All twelve of us!  Half of my siblings (out of 10) and my parents were here for Thanksgiving.

The ladies!  We didn't have a ladies night out this time, but the "date" night was just as fun.  Wish Steph, Brittany, Shawna, Amy and Ciera could have joined us!  (Their husbands too of course...it's like when I call my brother Daniel.  Hi Daniel, is Amy there? Ha ha.)

What a great time we had.  I am hoping we can do Thanksgiving at my house again next year.  I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.  Something I love about the holidays is the chance to get together with family and friends.
