Conference Weekend!

Wow, October is here and the holidays are around the corner.  Life passes more quickly the older I get! Lee, Elder Robertson and I went out to lunch one afternoon just because.

Not sure what Cal is doing....

Lego guys scaling the blinds.

With Elder Robertson being home for missionary training, we received permission to go on one last trip with him to West Virginia for conference!  The night before we had a wedding reception that I didn't want to miss.  Cal worked and Elder Robertson had class so they weren't able to come with us.

The reception was for Staci England and Mike Schill.  Mike's wife passed away a few years ago from cancer and a couple years ago I really hoped that Staci and Mike would get together!  And they did!  I'm so happy for them!

We got to the house late Friday night. I cleared out some drawers and put snacks in them for conference weekend.  It was really fun setting up the kitchen!

I also got all the goods in the fridge ready for the weekend.

We stayed in this house last October and I was excited that it was available yet again! Plus it had new carpet since last time and it made the house so much nicer!

Saturday morning before conference we met up with our friends--Kim Hartman and her kids--at Blackwater Falls State Park.  We did a little walk down to an overlook to see the falls.

This reads "Reed was here" haha.

We then hiked the Balance Rock trail. We loved all the cairns!

Wow, a pay phone?!

Thanks for joining us Hartmans!!!  Back at the "cabin".  We love coming here.  I hope to go again next fall!

Cal found these sunglasses at the Balanced Rock hike.  Too funny!

I love the real fireplace!

And one of the best parts--a hot tub!

The snack cupboard.

We loved conference!  And I love getting away and just having conference, family time, and fun food.  A great weekend!

Desserts for after the evening session!

We also like to go to a boardwalk that is in a wilderness type preserve or marsh...not sure what it is.  But it's a fun little walk about 15 minutes from the cabin.

Sunday morning!

The only downside is that we have to rent the cabin Sunday night so we can stay the whole day...but then we leave Sunday night to go home.  The upside is that it's only 2 hours away from our hour.  Last year about 13 miles from home a deer started running across the road and it hit the front right bumper of the Suburban.  This year no deer contacts which was great! One of the best parts was having Elder Robertson with us. We'll miss having him on our family trips while he's away. We loved our conference weekend and can't wait till April!
