Dublin!

Our 2026 family trip!  Dublin and Scotland and I'm so excited!  We flew out of Dulles on Icelandair for the first part of our trip to Dublin.

Icelandair doesn't give out free snacks it seems. But in Iceland it was the first day of summer (kind of early!) so everyone received an Iceland lemon cake. So fun and nice to get a free treat.

Here is our itinerary for the whole trip.

So pretty!  We're back in Ireland for the second time. First time for Clark & Chloe.

Dublin is a fun city. I booked an "airport express" bus for us. We found it just fine outside of the airport and even got on an earlier departure time to downtown Dublin.

We dropped off our luggage at a cell phone repair place. The guy wasn't going to take our luggage at first, even though I had booked it. He called the owner and let us leave our luggage. We had to pay extra though when we returned to pick it up.

The Ha'Penny Bridge!

We had fun sightseeing on our way to lunch.

Leo Burdock's for lunch. Pretty yummy and expensive for fish and chips.

We ate at the grounds of the Dublin city council building...something like that.

St. Patrick's Cathedral.

We stopped for some gelato.

We went to Trinity College and saw the Book of Kells exhibit. It was fun to see the old book some monks created in about 800 AD. We then went to the library at Trinity College.  We couldn't take pictures of the book though, so you'll have to look it up online.

We then went to Dublin Castle. It was kind of short, and not overly amazing, but fun to see.

We walked around a little more.

We were going to eat here but some of the kids didn't want to. It's the oldest pub in Dublin, with some sort of business in this building since the 1100s. Crazy!

We had some extra time so we lounged at St. Patrick's Cathedral again. Some of us snagged a nap. And some of us listened to the couple behind us discussing whether or not they would stay together. Apparently the guy had a playlist that some other girl made and his girlfriend didn't like that.

We ended up having dinner at a fast food kebab place and McDonald's...take your pick. Most of us weren't very hungry so just had snacky stuff. We got our stuff and headed back to the airport. Time to fly to Scotland! Fun day in Dublin.

Picture at the Iceland airport. Someday we need to actually do some tourist things there.  We've been to Iceland a handful of times now.
