Cal's 10th Birthday!

Summer vacation is here!!! I can't believe it's already July!  School starts next month...boo hoo. I just need to remember we have practically two whole months before school starts again.  Seriously, summer break is much too short!

We've had a few fun outings since school let out.  Thanks to Instagram I saw it was national doughnut day.  We stopped at a local grocery store to pick up our own.  Good thing we don't eat doughnuts very often because they sure are good...and sure are unhealthy!

It's also been fun spending time at the pool.  The kids (except Cal-trying to find a spot for him) are signed up for swimming lessons this year.  They have improved a lot though just by swimming around at the pool! Cal is very happy that he is tall enough to go down the slide.

A little river runs through town, and behind a local bank there are tables and benches on the banks of the river.  We've gone down a couple of times.  The kids love wading around and exploring.

I am sure this is just at our house, but our kids love to sleep somewhere other than their beds! Not sure what is appealing about crashing on the wood floor.

This caboose is right next to McDonald's, which is offering $0.49 cones this summer!  We'll try not to eat too many.

The kids are still taking selfies in the summer too.

Lee made a delicious pizza for dinner one Sunday night.

And the kids have been tagging along with me on shopping outings.  I still don't have very good patience at times at the store.  Need some work with that.  These pictures of Elden on this pink balance bike are kind of funny.

The first part of summer break is Cal's birthday!  He turned 10 this year!  He was so excited the morning of his birthday and told me that he is a decade old now.  During the day at one point the genders separated.  Shanna and Haley were inside ready stories from a "scary story book".

I love that we can ride our bikes around town!

Cal doesn't like fondant or frosting.  He thought of a cake that he wanted me to make him because he does like how they look.  He changed his mind though and wanted mint brownies.  Cal asked if I would draw a complicated picture on the brownies with chocolate.  There was no way I could do what he requested!  I suggested that he decorate the brownies himself, which he quite liked!

We had a fun party and invited our friends the Frankes over too.  They are our friends we met through church.  They don't have any kids and we try to include them in our kids' birthdays.  It's fun for all of us.  Party time!

My kids are into Pokemon right now and Cal received some cards for his birthday.  When my kids open a new pack they immediately look for the shinny/special cards.

I think Cal's birthday was a success.  Happy birthday Cal!  He's always been such a sweet kid.  He was one of the cutest babies ever too!  And is still a cute kid.  Cal definitely has a silly side, and we love him a whole bunch!

Next year when we come we should go down to the creek. That looks SO fun! I love how Cal decorated his brownies. They look awesome! I hope he plans on taking some art classes. He really has talent!
