Day two in London! We started out by walking around grabbing breakfast along the way...first stop Kings Cross!
We then walked over to St. Paul's Cathedral. In a plaza next to the church was a fun sitting area and pingpong. Not sure if we were supposed to use the pingpong tables...
I kept thinking of the song from Mary Poppin's--great to see the church in real life!
On the way back from our jaunt we decided to use the Underground and get the hang of it as we wanted to use it again that evening. Lee scanned his phone for an automatic purchase for the Tube and the gate opened. Elden went on the otherside and waited. Then Lee's phone wouldn't work again. He went over to the machines to figure out the tickets. Later his phone worked again and let me in. Then one of the workers just let Cal in. Lee eventually got 3 tickets for Shanna, Haley and himself. We rode on the Underground! But we never used it again. It was pretty expensive!
After getting back to our hotel we quickly left for the countryside and a 1.5 hour drive to the London Temple. Yep, it's that far from London. There was road construction so we missed the turnoff in the roundabout and wasted even more time. I've never driven through a roundabout that had contruction in it! But we made it to the temple and did baptisms. What a great place to be!
On the way back we stopped at a gas station to grab some food. We didn't have time to stop at a restuarant and we didn't see a grocery store for a quick stop. Who knew that gas station food could be so reasonably priced?! Well in England it is! Had to get some treats too!
We are always checking out cars.
We got back to the hotel, changed and headed out to see Wicked!!! We saw the Harry Potter theater on the way! The walk was quite long and we cut it kind of short. We stopped at a grocery store right by the theater to grab some food before the event.
Our quick snack.
Wicked was awesome! We had pretty good seats too. Lee bought the tickets the night before. All 6 of us went for about 180 pounds! We decided to get a cab for the trip back to the hotel. That was kind of fun. And from what we could tell the same price or cheaper that going on the Tube.
We then backtracked and shhh, don't tell, but we went to McDonald's. I couldn't believe the cheap prices! Like a large fry for 1.50 pounds?!
A street lamp with a real flame...or simulated...
They are watching!
Oh, loved the little milk pouches. Like ketchup pouches, but with milk!
Grabbing breakfast and snacks the next morning!
Haha, I bought some grapefruit a disceted it at the Gatwick Airport. Things went smoothly getting to the airport and returning our car we rented through Turo. Thankfully no damage was inacted! And right after this guess who we saw at the airport?! Mr. Bean in the flesh! I noticed that someone important was at the airport because of several nicely dressed security people. I descretly got Lee's attention and told him so. I wondered who was here. All I saw was a lady and a little kid say bye to the security guys and walk away. Lee looked over and said, "There's Mr. Bean!" We weren't fast enough to get a photo. Pretty cool though!
The rest of the trip was just hanging out and traveling. Too bad we didn't have anything planned, but that was okay as well. We flew back to Dublin and caught a shuttle to the hotel. By the hotel was a gas station with a fast food section. We headed there for dinner. Then it was more rounds of scum at the hotel. A fun evening.
Arm wrestling too!
Oh, and for boring journaling purporses, we also did our virtual COVID tests. We passed. YAY!
Early morning at the Dublin Airport! We were there about 4 hours early. ONE lady checked us in and didn't arrive till about 2 hours before the flight left. The SAME ONE lady went upstairs to check us into the airplane. Crazy. I was stressed becasuse I thought we were not going to make our flight. For some reason I couldn't retreive my boarding passes online. But some people could. Very weird. So we had to go to the checkin counter. Even though we had nothing to check-in... blah...
The Underground hoodie with a map!
Finally made it to the gate. It was Cal's 17th birthday! We bought some goodies from a vending machine.
We arrived in Iceland! YAY! Play Airlines is based in Iceland. The day we arrived they were celebrating their first flight to Boston I think. With the fanfare we played it up that it was because of Cal's birthday.
We bought an extremely over priced lunch at the airport (which I hate doing!) and waited for the next flight! Back to the USA...
