Clark's 17th Birthday

Wow!  Clark is 17!  So fun!  We had a nice day a home doing what Clark wanted. In the morning he opened some  presents.

Then he and Lee worked on the Celica.

For lunch we went to Riverside Lunch in Charlottesville and did takeout.  That evening the Petersons and Heits came to celebrate with Clark!

It was a fun day.  Clark, we're so proud of all the hard work you are doing in school, fixing the Celica, and in young men's.  We love you and are excited about your future in school, mission and life!

Some quick random photos...a huge tomato grew in our garden.  Salsa time!

Our neighbor down the road has blackberry bushes that she lets the kids pick from in the summer because the branches hang into the alley.  The kids like running down there and picking them.

And a huge moth hung out on our front porch for a few days.

And more nature pictures, Cal took a picture of the bananas.  Funny that one was pretty straight! But still a great banana.

Haley found a fun mountain, jello cake creation on youtube.  We both watched how she made it.  She recreated her own and it looks so fun!

Happy Birthday to Clark!!!

Summer Camp & Gerlas

Summer camp finally arrived.  Clark was a youth leader and had done lots of preparing and meetings for camp.  It was all online, which I thought was going to be awful, but it turned out great.  The stake leaders did an amazing job of having supply kits for each class the kids signed up for.  They were insanely cool!

We were up at Darrell's that Sunday and Shanna decided to stay for the week and Eric came home with us.  Shanna was able to do a couple things with camp but left all of her supplies at home.

The kids made a movie about Ammon being a missionary to King Lamoni. We had some good laughs while watching it.

We also celebrated Katie's 18th birthday!

Oh, before that we got to go to church at our church building for the first time since March 8th! 25 people max, all wearing gloves, sitting every third bench, no singing, wipe down the pews afterwards with sanitizing wipes. Very interesting! But good to be there.

Back to Katie and being 18....

The Gerlas came and stayed with us for a few days.  The middle of the week Steph went up to DC where Andy was working and James and Jake hung with us.  Maggie was also up in PA with Shanna.  One afternoon James was showing us how a dime was sticking to his hand.  I had given him a shiny dime and a shiny penny-both of which he was keeping great care over. Lee and James tried to make the penny stick on Lee's hand but it wouldn't.  Lee said something about his hands being too old.  Then James starting looking at Lee's forehead and said that he thought he could stick it on there.  It was so funny.  And it stuck!

Shanna made a shoe shelf with some wood she had bought.

The kids doing camp!

Haley likes making berry and lemonade concoctions.

I invited a bunch of ladies to meet up for ice cream one night.  It was fun seeing people that I hadn't seen for a few months and having Stephanie along.

We did a little park stop one afternoon.  It was funny because every time Elden would say "Mom!" he was up on top of something.

More summer camp!

Apparently a late night summer Nesquik run was in the works.

The Bartholomews and Gerlas all got back to my house Friday night and Saturday we went to Smith Mountain Lake for another awesome day on the double decker pontoon.

Lake days are the best.
