We enjoyed a great Memorial Day weekend with my brother Darrell and his family. Thanks Darrell and Stacie for having us and for all the great food!
Sunday after church we went on a walk to "Duck Weed Pond". A very pretty nature area close to their house. Ticks were out and about--Clark found one on his sock.
Lee is really good at skipping stones. He was able to skip stones in the long stretch of water, over the rocks and into the water at the far end of the picture.
Elden found a frog. Of course everyone wanted to hold it!
Darrell took Katie, Joseph and Clark to a fireside and the rest of us headed to Duck Weed Pond.
When I arrived back at Darrell's the phone rang so I went ahead and answered it. Darrell was calling from a hotel. Apparently his van stopped working. Lee picked them up and dropped the youth off at the fireside, and then went back and helped Darrell with his van. Darrell's van kept dying..I think the alternator went bad? It was a very eventful Sunday evening for them! Katie, Joseph and Clark were talking about how they were stranded. Pretty cushy stranding though as for most of the time they were sitting in a hotel lobby, playing a game.
Monday morning we headed to a local Memorial Day parade. We had a perfect spot on the parade route. Darrell and Stacie treated everyone to soft pretzels!
Told you I was going to post this Jeff!
After the parade we enjoyed a delicious pot-luck lunch with their church members at a state park. There were fun games too!
Darrell opened his pool that day. The kids were so excited to swim in it. It was cold though! I don't know how cold it really was because I didn't go in. I don't like to go swimming unless it's really hot out....above 90.
Being at his pool kind of makes me want my own!
We are so grateful for all those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. I feel so grateful to live in this great country! What a blessing it is to visit family and enjoy being with them pretty much whenever we want! We had a terrific weekend, and hope you did too.
