We had a nice General Conference weekend. Every year during the first weekend of April and the first weekend of October we are privileged to listen to the prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson. We also hear from other church leaders and the 12 apostles. Because of technology, and our great Roku, we are able to watch conference at home, on our TV. So much better than gathering around our little computer! My kids were excited about General Conference weekend, which I loved. I am sure they love lounging around and eating treats. Hopefully they listened a little too and felt the spirit! We just received our church's monthly magazine-The Ensign. All of the talks from General Conference are printed in there, along with the talks from the general women's broadcast. I am excited to read it. Honestly, I didn't get as much out of conference which was my fault. It will be wonderful reading the messages. You can listen and/or read the talks here.
Lois and her family came down. We enjoyed having them here.
Her baby is such a happy boy and so cute. When I babysat him a couple weekends ago he was so snuggly, I loved it!
In between sessions we went to the park. Our friends Sarah and Jeff, along with their kids, met us there. We roasted marshmallows and the kids ran around.
Saturday night Jeff and Lee went to the priesthood session for all men ages 12 and up. Lois and I had a little girls night. I had big plans of having the kids in bed by 7:30, asleep by 8:00. Yeah, that didn't happen. With kitchen clean-up and baths to do, we didn't start "girls' night till about 9:30! We watched a fun house re-do show on the Roku A&E channel. I made some brownies too, which we ate with some yummy chocolate ice cream. When Lee arrived home he told me about the talks from the priesthood session. We watched another house episode, but fell asleep at the end.
Sunday we enjoyed conference again. During conference this year, if the kids were relatively quiet during each talk AND stayed in the family room (or at the table if eating), they earned a reverence card. At the conclusion of each session they redeemed their cards for treats. The treats had varying amounts on them, for example a kid needed 3 cards to get a thing of fruit snacks. It seemed to work our pretty well.
For dinner we had baked potatoes. Haley decided to make hers into a car. Not that we normally do that, but for some reason she made a car that night.
While Lois and her family were loading up their things to head out, I found these glasses the kids got from Lee's office. I put them on Rhett and we had a spur-of-the-moment photo shoot with him. It was really cute.
Hope you all had a great Conference Weekend and enjoyed the first weekend of April!
