Lee's parents recently visited. It was great to see them and so sweet of them to come all this way to see us! On the way to our house, they stopped in Luray to see the caverns. The called us wondering if we would like to join them. We got ready and headed up. What great caverns! So beautiful. The tour guide was great with my kids, which I really appreciated. Everyone had a great time.
Lee and I with his wonderful parents!
This might have been my favorite thing. There is a pool of water that is so still the reflection is unbelievable. Amazing! Of course it looks better in real life.
All the kids!
A fuzzy picture, but this is an operating organ whose pipes are the stalactites. People actually come all the way down here for special occasions, like weddings. I personally can't imagine walking a 1/2 mile down into a cavern to get married in a pristine white dress. Seems a bit dirty to me...
I guess they have these throughout the cave, but here is one example of a mechanical organ part tapping a stalactite to create sound (or whatever happens when sound comes out of an organ pipe).
This part is calling the Wishing Well. People throw in coins totally thousands of dollars each year--from the chart that is what it seemed like. All the money collected from the Wishing Well goes to a charity. And don't fall off your seat, but I gave the kids each a coin to toss in.
Haley and Grandma!
What a view. It is gorgeous out here! Come and visit!
The next day we did some crafts with the youngins at home. I did make a trip to the school to make photo copies.
Every 2nd weekend in October our town hosts Autumn Days. There are lots of craft booths, food and entertainment. Also down by the city park another group simultaneously holds another craft fair/flea market. I loved looking around.
I found out some cloggers were performing so after lunch we headed back down again. I stayed behind with the girls and bought my mom and dad their little Christmas gift. It's fun going shopping and browsing with my girls!
After I took some pictures one of the kids--Haley I am sure--took the camera and took more pictures. I chuckled when I saw this one. A perfectly great photo of someone's shoe. So funny.
Before the girls and I headed home we stopped at the playground. Autumn Days are held on the street right in front of the school (street blocked off of course) and the playground couldn't have been more convenient!

Elkton Eyecare
Lee's been in business almost two months now. He's been pretty busy with setting up a business bank account, getting a card machine in the office, rearranging equipment, visiting with frame representatives, trying to get Medicare set-up (almost done!), figuring out taxes, deciding on advertising, doing school screenings....etc. Overall I think he's really enjoying it. And of course, we love the town!
Here are a few pictures of the "new" place. On the website it reads that the office is conveniently located in Historic Downtown. Lee's door is in the middle with the little white square in the door window.
We FINALLY have a door sign. I won't bore you with details, but it took longer than anticipated. It sure beats paper signs taped on the door!
The building we are in, as you may have guessed is older and the office is actually on the second floor. The arrangement of the office isn't the best, but it works. Even though it's cozy, I do like the dispensary. A few items have since been removed, but the main furniture is still there.
This was one of the exam lanes.
Another part of the room. In the picture above you will see two windows. The window on the left and the door in this lower picture are basically directly across from each other. The circle mirror on the door isn't just a reflection from the sun...it's a projector screen for an eye chart. (And there was a yellow circle on the door once the screen was taken off the door.)
We decided to make this exam room the waiting room. My sister Lois helped me paint (THANK YOU!) and Lee and I picked out everything in the room. It was fun going shopping for all the things. Though at times it did get a little hairy with five helpers along! Just keep in mind while viewing the pictures that I have never really decorated a space--this is mine and Lee's first attempt. And we've never bought furniture either, unless of course you count our $20 desk from Salvation Army, among other furniture not more than $45-$50 each. Well, okay, unless you count beds. We did buy a pretty nice bed after Lee finished optometry school. Just the bed and box springs, mind you--not a bed frame. And for guests we purchased two additional beds while in Fort Leonard Wood. Anyway, there are a few things that aren't perfect, but overall we're really pleased with how it turned out. I wish we would have taken pictures of the whole process, but didn't. Next time, right?!

Conference Weekend
Lois Heit and co. came down for conference weekend. Saturday morning Lois and I went shopping and checked out some fun stores here in town.
Lois got an awesome deal on a baby shower gift: 1 outfit, 4 headbands and a card all for $2.50!
In between sessions we took family pictures.
That evening for Priesthood Session, we got all the kids to bed (thanks Lois for reading the girls a story!!!) and then Lois and I enjoyed yummy brownies, popcorn and HGTV.
It was so cute seeing Elden playing with baby Blake.
Sunday afternoon session right before I dosed off (sadly). I wasn't asleep the whole time though! I was still in the I-am-listening-just-have-my-eyes-closed-and-am-relaxing-state-even-though-I-know-I-look-asleep.
We loved having the Heits here! Conference weekend is always such a special time!
