We live very close to the Shenandoah National Park entrance and need to make a better effort of going there more often. We did squeeze in a hike this summer. One of our favorites is Bear Fence. It's a short hike with a "rock scramble" as we call it. We like to go in the morning, get up to the top of the rock scramble and eat breakfast. Great views up there and kind of dangerous too if one is not careful.
Part of the trail loops to the Appalachian trail.
Rarely do I see bears in SNP, but we did on our way home that morning! Bears have much longer legs than I picture them having.
The kids did more baking and made sugar cookies one morning. They had fun decorating them with some friends as well.
We had a great garden full of cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers this year! Even double cucumbers...
