Cal was quite busy with scout stuff this spring. He had to do 6 hours of service, 3 of which needed to be conservation related. He did 3 hours of river clean-up. Elden helped quite a bit. One evening I went down with the boys so they could clean by the river and Cal saw a bank envelope stuck in the bushes. It has $30 in cash inside! We were parked at the bank so I had him call and ask about keeping the $30. No one had called the bank about it so they said he could keep the money. Pretty crazy!
A fun, random picture.
When we cleaned out our shed I found some fun items, like this picture of me during at p-day on my mission.
My notes for my "homecoming talk".
Haley found these Dave Ramsey stickers and put them on her school binder. That's my girl!
I also did a little shopping for our trip in June....neck pillows for everyone!
Shanna had her gymnastics preview. Once a year they show off what they have been working on.
One weekend in May we headed to Holliday Lake State Park for a family campout. We visited the lake for a little bit.
I forgot a lot of things on this campout! Oops. We had burgers for dinner and later s'mores.
Fun with fire!
And with creatures!
The next day we packed up and headed to the lake for a couple of hours.
We then headed to Farmville, VA to go on a 22 mile bike ride for Cal's cycling merit badge. We met our friends the Mayfields.
All ready! We did this bike ride two years ago.
Some of the kids did about 18 miles, Lee went 25 I think, and Cal, Clark and I did 22. We loved having the Mayfields along with us. Thanks for coming! This ride was much better than the one 2 years ago and no flat tires or drama. YAY!
After we hit up the same Mexican restaurant again, El Patron.
We stopped at a Wendy's in Charlottesville on the way home and Lee spotted Bronco Mendenhall and his son!
Mother's Day was the next day. Primary was crazy! The youth and men helped out so the primary teachers could go to Relief Society but it was crazy with logistics and making sure every class was covered. And then the substitute teachers didn't know that they should bring the kids back in to sing to the moms. Thankfully I told them! They sang Mother I love you and used the bells, which was really fun.
I mainly hung out with Lee who had a class.
Lee redid my recipe book for my which was a fun surprise, and some chocolate. In the past I haven't really liked Mother's Day, but decided to think of other mom's that I love, and not my failings on this day. And it's made all the difference!
