My 5 siblings that came for Elden's baptism stayed through the weekend. 33 of us slept at our house that night. Two of my nieces stayed up late talking and I had no idea where they were going to sleep. The family room floor was pretty covered and the rug area in the front room was covered also. Sunday morning I saw them sleeping on the tile behind the bar area in our kitchen. We got to church early that Sunday and saved seats. We took up 5 pews! Granted, we do have a small chapel.
After church we all had lunch at my house, hung out and went on a walk to the cemetery and to a house we aren't going to buy.
I wish we had curbs and sidewalks all over town, but it is handy when people come to visit--we have plenty of parking space!
Shanna and Alyssa did a skit which sadly went awry.
They also treated us to a magic show.
After dinner we went to an overlook area near us in Massanutten. Daniel I think took off before that, and Darrell left right after.
I should have gotten a big family picture, but didn't. Five of the siblings! So awesome to be with them that weekend!
I love this picture Mike took.
A cool magic trick Mike, Lena's husband, showed us. So impressed!!!
Elden's birthday just kept on going. I forgot about his cards and he opened them Monday morning. Lois had left the night before, and Lena and Deb were still at our house on Monday.
Lee and I took the kids out of school early so they could hang out with their cousins. Alyssa and Kirsten used the ropes a couple times in the gym.
Lena was so sweet and treated me and Deb to lunch. We ate at Goodfellas.
A "big" snowstorm was predicted to come through on Tuesday. Monday night for FHE we headed up to the Storybook trail. The snow starting coming down while we went on a little walk to another fun overlook.
School was canceled on Tuesday. It was disappointing that the anticipated 5-8" was only 2". I was hoping for 2 feet! Though that wasn't in the forecast, but 8" would have been fun. All the kids except Makenzie when to Lee's office to shovel to earn money. There wasn't much to do, but Lee found them something to do.
Elden and Hyrum sprinkled rock salt onto the parking lot.
Oh, Lena and family took off Monday afternoon. It was fun that some family could stay longer! And I loved that Deb stayed till Wednesday afternoon. During some downtime I went ahead and got an eye exam. I didn't feel like my vision had changed at all, but I hadn't been in for an eye exam for a few years. Shhh...don't tell my eye doctor.
My view in the exam chair...hmmm...wonder who's wedding picture that is?
We went sledding late morning as well.
I guess this is how you practice piano on a snowy day?
Deb and I went to the post office that afternoon and Cal wanted to tag along. I didn't really pay attention to his outfit till we were at the post office. Wearing a too-small robe, eating fudge sauce. Too funny.
That night we had Tim Tam slams!
That night Deb, Lee and I stayed up WAY too late watching some fun movies. It's always sad when family leaves. We had a great time with them and were so glad so many people could come for Elden's baptism!
