For the Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet this year there was a Western theme. For dessert the boys were asked to decorate and bring a Western themed cake. I prepped some fondant covered cakes (I made one cake and cut it in two) for the boys. I knew they would love decorating with the fondant as it's similar to play-dough. Elden had a fun time helping me get everything ready.
Clark's cake
Cal's cake
On the way to Harrisonburg BOTH cakes were "ruined". Cal's flipped over and fell on the floor of the van. We put it on display for people to vote on, but then took it off the table before anyone ate it. When we got home and I was bringing the cake inside, it fell out of my hands onto the ground making quite a mess. (Yep, we were going to eat it....till it fell on the ground outside!)
Clark's was smashed on accident. Oh well. It was kind of painful to me to see both cakes get ruined since I had taken the time to make and color the fondant. Thankfully Clark was cool about his cake getting smashed.
The decorations at the Blue and Gold were so cute! We had a fun night. Great job to Nancy and Hannah, the boys' cub scout leaders!
Haley and her friend.
With Shanna....
There were "mind" games on the table. I only knew a couple of them. I wasn't very helpful to Cal.
I thought these "Wanted" posters were so cute!
Darling decorations, right?!
Of course there was a fun skit.
The cub master, Hannah, thought of some great activities for the kids. One of them was decorating a horse.
The other was a table full of great play clothes. ALL the kids LOVED it. What a hit. Elden had on a Captain Hook jacket in this picture. He looked so cute in it! He didn't want a picture taken...
Haley would have loved growing up on a ranch.
Cal's interesting get-up.
Clark received two pins that night that he earned. Great job Clark!
For dinner we enjoyed yummy bbq pork sandwiches, salads and cake! It was a fun night. The boys are getting excited about the upcoming Pinewood Derby.

Scouts is intense. I thought I'd never have to deal with it until I became Primary President. I do make one of my counselors deal with it though although I have kinda constant guilt about it cause I still don't understand all the awards, levels, etc. It is an intense program! ;)
Thank you thank you thank you thank you for taking pictures!!! And they made it look like fun. What a relief that's over!
