Maine Part II & NY Church History

Our last full day in Maine!  We had a blueberry pancake breakfast, then headed out.

First stop was Little Hunter's Beach.  Our friends told us about it and they said it was so neat.  We actually were a little bored there.  But then for some reason Clark threw a rock and noticed it started bouncing.  Then a lot of us starting throwing rocks watching them bounce.  It was so fun!  The rocks at the beach were smooth and rounded.  So that part was cool.

Watching the rocks bounce.

We drove around different parts of the park and stopped at a store and grabbed a couple of snacks like this blueberry milk.

For lunch we stopped at a place that had BBQ and lobster. They also had corn hole.

It was pretty gross watching Clark and Lee eating the lobster.  Clark was asking what some gray liquid was.  I had to move away from them while they ate and had their lobster talk.

The kids LOVED the baked beans there.  They sometimes still talk about them.

Tony also had a vacation fund that you could contribute to.  His cup had more money in it than the tips cup!

We enjoyed seeing different parts of Acadia National Park.

Another lighthouse.  We did a quick see and then left.  There were quite a few people there and a long line of cars with minimal parking. Lee stayed in the suburban while some of us saw the light house quick.

That evening we went to Bar Harbour and did a little shopping during the rain.

That evening we packed up and I took a nap as we were leaving at midnight. Also while we were at the cabin we went on a couple little bike rides by the cabin, played more games and watched some movies.

In the wee hours we headed to New York to visit the John Johnson Farm where the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was organized in the small house of Peter Whitmer.

We then drove a few more hours to the Priesthood Restoration site.  We toured the reconstructed homes of Isaac and Elizabeth Hales and also the reconstructed home of Joseph and Emma Smith.  Both homes were rebuilt in the original spot.  At both the Peter Whitmer Farm and the various locations at the Priesthood Restoration site it was wonderful hearing all the amazing stories of the beginnings of the church and feeling the spirit.  This was where Joseph Smith started to translate the Book of Mormon and also begin receiving the Priesthood.

The kids are lifting a box that would have contained the same weight as the gold plates. It was a short trip to these places, but I loved that we could go.  Even it if meant leaving at midnight!

By the Susquehanna River.  A guy going on a road trip with his son (and then meeting up with his family) took this picture for us. He sold his business and was taking a few months off.
