Conference Weekend Florida Style

YES!  One of the best weekends of the year came--General Conference Weekend!  We look forward to both General Conference weekends.  In the fall we rented a cabin in West Virginia and this spring we decided to rent a house in Ft. Lauderdal to enjoy conference there.  It was awesome!

First, a dispenser machine to buy masks at Food Lion.  Too funny.

Before our Florida trip (first conference, then spring break) Haley and Shanna and I got our nails done.  We went to Holly Nails-our second time there.  I don't think we'll go again.  Shanna's nails chipped right away and one of mine peeled off about 6 days later.  Usually gel nails should last about 2-3 weeks.

We left right before mid-night on a Thursday. I took a nap that evening and then drove all night till about 8:15am.  Reed was with us so we dropped him off at a campground on the way down. We made it to Florida!  Lee got stuck in the middle seat practically the entire trip!

The house we rented was really fun.  Not in the best neighborhood, but an okay one. I am not sure about the crime, just that the houses were older and not pristine.  The house wasn't that nice either, but it seemed clean.  The backyard area was super awesome!  Very private with a pool and a tiki hut. When we arrived the cleaning ladies were there which was really weird.  They were going to stick around till the towels were done drying but I said I could take care of them.  The best part of renting the house though was that we didn't have to do ANYTHING when we left.  There were no check-out instructions.  Our host said to just enjoy the rest of our trip and we didn't need to do anything.  Sweet!  Though we did tidy up before we left.  We didn't want to leave a mess!

Conference was amazing as always.  We really enjoyed it.

Some pictures of the inside of the hosue.

Haley made a couple of fun drinks.  Here is one.  You'll see the other soon!

YUM!

Saturday morning we hid Easter baskets for the kids.  We never do Easter baskets, so this was a first.  It wasn't going to work out to do an egg hunt, and I didn't want to bring all of the eggs down to Florida.  So I bought a bunch of candy for each of the kids and gave them all the same them.  Lee hid them and we said when you find one just keep it. Lee and I also went on a walk that morning and went to the grocery store.  Sadly we ended up going to buy groceries three times.  Not prepared.

Cal was holding up the tube for Elden to jump through but Cal fell in himself.  That happened to me at the Whitings pool a couple summers ago. So Cal enjoyed swimming with his clothes on.

There was even an outdoor shower! We didn't use it but still, very cool.  We are still thinking about building a pool here.  Not sure if we will but we are thinking about it.  And staying at this house made us want one!

Saturday evening we went to the Hollywood Boardwalk.  So pretty and well kept.  It was a bit chilly out but we still enjoyed it.  We didn't stay long because we weren't prepared for the cooler weather (Shanna was!) and we paid for parking for just 45 minutes.

I liked the no pets sign. YES!  I don't mind animals but so nice not to worry about animal droppings on the boardwalk.  And when I visit people I hate it when they let their dog come right up to me and get on my shoes and jump on me.  So gross.

This conference weekend's Saturday night session was Priesthood.  The girls and I watched a movie while they watched their session.  Elden couldn't hold out the whole time.

Sunday afternoon in between sessions we saw the temple.  I was hoping the gates would be open but they weren't.  We also walked to a cute neighborhood around the corner from the rental house.

The Elmo book made it to Florida!  Haha.

We're so thankful to have a living Prophet who leads us and ever guides us towards Christ.  If you want to watch the sessions of conference and to hear wonderful Easter messages about hope and our Savior go to: churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference?lang=eng There is a wealth of beautiful testimonies and information!
