After the safari we were back at Nasaruni for another day before we headed out. Haley finishing up some laundry.
This guy took us shopping into town that day....can't remember his name! He wore a traditional men's dress outfit for the Maasai people.
The glasses frames came in! The girls who needed glasses picked one out and Lee took their pupillary distance. We didn't have a mirror so the girls used our phones to see how they looked with glasses and had fun taking selfies. Not much is different from the US and Africa!
Elden sorted some classroom books.
Haley helped Julie with a hand sewing mending class.
Reading time.
This is how many patients we saw!
Another yummy meal with chapati and other good foods.
We went shopping in Narok. It was kind of weird that they dropped us off so we could walk around. I would have rather just ridden to wherever we were going.
We bought some fabric and some shuka's, a name for a fabric wrap in Kenya.
Next up the grocery store! Kind of a mini Walmart style. And you can even buy airport chairs there, haha.
Fun seeing the different candy. We had fun buying goodies and got some ice cream bars too.
Elden actually bought two machetes by the fabric store. Who knew they sold them at the grocery store too?!
At the store we bought a ton of underwear for the girls. We found out that the girls have only one or two pair each. So sad. Lee was in line to buy the underwear and a lady was standing behind him. The basket was full and he asked her if she wanted to go in front of him because he'd take awhile. She said no. But she did want to scan her store card for Lee so she could get the extra points from the underwear purchase, haha. Very smart. Lee let her.
Another beautiful sunset!
Fish for dinner!
Flan for dessert.
Our chef again, Robert.
One last night with the girls. We played a few games and said goodbyes.
Our last breakfast at Nasaruni!
A hedgehog at Michelle's house.
Games with Julie before loading up.
Patrick with his wife and youngest son Lyle. She makes peanut butter at home and sells it. We bought two jars to take home. Yummy!
Every morning, and almost all night long, we'd hear the rooster crowing. Pretty annoying at 4am! We took a group photo (which I need to find!) before we left. I don't know if it's a joke or not but instead of saying "cheese" there people would tell us "say chapati!". Right before we were about to take the picture Elden said "say kill the rooster!" It was pretty hilarious.
That late morning we traveled back to Nairobi. First stop was the Karen Blixen museum and grounds. She did a lot for the people of Kenya in the early 1900s. She was from Denmark and lived in Kenya for several years.
Lunch on the grounds. I took a chance and ate the chicken.
There was a coffee plantation there and this is some of the old equipment. These animals live in it.
We then headed to the Subiaco Centre to unload our luggage. After we went shopping at a mall for a little bit.
Some yummy cake from the grocery store at the mall.
